Singapore Flyer

Singapore Flyer

Another spectacular and unusual way to see the beauty of Singapore is to take a look at it from high above. World's second high Ferris wheel will take you to the sky at its 165 meters and make your heart beat much faster from the amazing view you will enjoy. Only from the cabin of the wheel you will be able to gaze out at the city center to a distance of almost 45 kilometers, even Sentosa island, Indonesian islands and a part of Malaysia are visible!

The wheel is built into a three-storey building of a terminal that houses shops, bars and restaurants. This giant observation wheel began operation on February 11, 2008. Tickets for corporate rides from the 11th to 13th of February were sold for 8,888 Singapore dollars each, which is considered to be a lucky number in Chinese culture. First public rides started on St. Valentine's day, on February 14, and the inauguration ceremony of the wheel took place on April 15, 2008.

Each of the 28 air conditioned capsules are almost the size of a bus being able to transport up to 28 passengers. The complete trip on the wheel lasts around 28 minutes. So if we calculate it, we will see that simultaneously the cabins can accommodate 784 people! The wheel is rotating at the speed of 0.76 km/h so you will have a great chance to see in detail the surrounding views of the city and take pictures with the sights. Originally the wheel rotated counterclockwise, but the direction was changed according to the recommendations of feng shui experts. Another fun fact is that the square of land occupied by the wheel equals the square of 172 tennis courts.

For those who feels like having a luxurious and romantic ceremony with a fabulous view, the Singapore Flyer has a surprise – a chance to open a bottle of fine champagne to a romantic music at the height of 165 meters. At such a level it is totally ok to propose a toast to dolce vita! This premium ride with champagne is an ideal choice for those who would like to show their love for their close ones or are willing to make a good impression on their business partners.
