Camp Nou Stadium

Camp Nou

The Camp Nou stadium (New Field) is the main attraction of the Pedralbes neighborhood and the home turf to the FC Barcelona, one of the best football teams of our days. It was built in 1957 by architect Francesc Mitjans to replace the previous stadium called Camp de Les Corts, situated in the same district. The stadium was rebuilt on several occasions; in 2008 it saw the last major reconstruction supervised by the British architect Norman Foster. Its seating capacity is 99,000, which makes it one of the world’s largest and the biggest in Europe. Apart from regular cup games and Spanish Cup matches it was home to 1964 European Nations' Cup and 1982 FIFA World Cup games. It might be complicated to get a ticket for a game of Barca – when it comes to selling tickets, the priority is given to members of the official fan club (roughly 170,000 members) and season ticket holders who eventually get the best places. It is better to track the start of ticket sales and purchase them online on the official website of the football club.

There is another opportunity to sneak inside one of the world’s most famous football stadiums – you just have to visit the most frequented museum of Catalonia, the FC Barcelona Museum. Without any exaggeration this place, situated at the stadium, is a paradise for every football fan. Apart from an opportunity to go out to the field, the entry ticket allows you to drop in the locker rooms and commentators' cabins, stroll down the tunnel, see the huge exhibition with multimedia screens, club's trophies, players' uniforms, a special area dedicated to Leonel Messi, and to admire the best goals in the history of FC Barcelona. There is an entire complex of sports oriented buildings around the Camp Nou – a special stadium for the youngsters of the club, a ground for its basketball, handball and indoor soccer teams. The stadium also has long been a great stage for the world's top music stars: Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Jose Carreras and U2 performed here. When at the museum you should as well pay a visit to the nearby FC Barcelona store.
