Hemp Museum

Hanf Museum

The centre of Berlin hides the unusual Hemp Museum that was founded in 1993. There are 5 similar museums in the world: in Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. Visitors of the museum can observe not only how the hemp is growing in special greenhouses (special commission performs checks so that hemp does not reach the certain ripeness level) but also see different woven clothes made of hemp, smell the soap and air freshener with hemp aroma. Visitors of the museum can find out how hemp is used in cosmetology, medicine and other areas. There is a shop where one can buy hookah, smoking pipes, calendars, posters and multiple souvenirs. Museum employees say that only during the last year the museum was visited by about 1 million people. Starting from 1997 centre of Berlin hosts the so-called Hemp Parade dedicated to its legalization and accompanied by various cultural and recreation events. One can visit the museum at home by opening its webpage.
