Adamini Apartment House

Dom Adamini

XIX. Originally this place was occupied by the wooden manege theater (it was demolished by the order of Paul I because it was in the way of holding parades). The apartment house was named after the prominent Italian architect who resided in Russia. The building was constructed as the commercial apartment building: despite the very central location, the rent price was not high and the number of people who desired to live in the house was great. The house attracted popular poets, writers and artists. At the beginning of XX cen. it housed the cabaret. The very days of the war brought two bombs on the house and it was restored from the ruins only in 1946.
