Schloss Bellevue

Belevue Palace is located in the northern part of the Big Tiergarten. It is the official residence of the German President and thus closed for excursions. Nevertheless take the time to see and make great pictures of this immaculately looking building. The palace was built in 1786 for Friedrich the Great’s youngest brother. At different times the palace was visited by Friedrich Schiller, Wilhelm von Humboldt and Napoleon Bonaparte. The palace was badly damaged during the Second World War; the restoration works were performed in accordance with the original drawings of the XVIII century. Despite simple exterior and no decorative elements of the facade, the palace impresses by its size and dignity.
As the building is far away from the subway station, it is recommended to get there from Alexanderplatz on numerous double-deck excursion buses.
